CQ is a great starting place for broader policy issues and sections of the reports will often cover more granular topics.
The Rand Corporation is an independent policy analysis organization. They cover many topics, including education. Their information is reputable and they claim to be unbiased; however, all sources should be critically examined.
This resource provides access to the full text and indexing for most congressional hearings, the Serial Set (House and Senate reports and documents), committee prints, the Congressional Record, and congressional bills (1789 to present).
The Southern Poverty Law Center keeps information on children's welfare, LGBT and immigrant rights, and extremist groups. It also lists past and present court cases in these areas.
