Meet with an expert

Get help from our librarians & subject experts. We support research at any academic level, from first-year assignments to dissertations and faculty projects. A consultation may result in suggested resources (books, articles, primary sources, data sources, and more), search strategies for your topic or help developing research questions.

Research consultations are offered by librarians with expertise in your subject areas and curriculums.

Do I need a consultation?

Consultations will usually last 30-60 minutes. Here are a few examples of projects we often help with:

  • Research papers, literature reviews, and presentations.
  • Thesis, dissertation, grant writing, or research projects.

Our support isn’t limited to expertise within a certain subject area. We also offer support on general topics including:

  • Copyright, fair use, open access mandates and publishing, research impact, and using UVM ScholarWorks.
  • Citation management tools like EndNote and Zotero

We also offer data consultations in statistics, geographic information systems (GIS), data visualizations, and developing data management plans.
