Howe Library

Howe Library has two entrances during the school year and one entrance during the summer.

  • Main entrance: there is a ramp leading up to a double set of doors which can be opened with push buttons.
  • Skybridge side entrance: This entrance is only open during the fall and spring semesters. The skybridge connects to the Central Campus Residence Hall. If you enter at ground floor through the residence hall, there are two elevators which will take you up to the skybridge level.

Dana Library

Dana Library is located within the Larner Learning Commons. Enter the vestibule opposite Converse Hall, then you'll see the main doors to the library. The library doors have push buttons for access, but the vestibule doors do not.

Silver Special Collections Library

Silver Special Collections Library is located in Room B201 of the Billings Library building. There are two entrances.

  • Accessible entrance: the accessible entrance is located in the back of the building. If you enter via the back entrance, the reading room is located to your right.
  • Front entrance: this entrance requires stairs to reach the door. You'll have entered the building on the third floor. Take the elevator down to the second level, then turn left when you exit the elevator

Howe Library

At Howe Library, the second and third floors are designated quiet floors. On the second floor there is a Quiet Study room that is for silent study only.

Dana Library

Find Dana Library's Quiet Study room (noise level: silent) by walking to the back of the library from the front entrance, then turning right. Study rooms and study pods are also available to be reserved for both individuals and groups.

Silver Special Collections Library

In Billings Library (the building in which Silver Special Collections Library is located), Billings North Study Lounge and the Special Collections Reading Room are both areas for quiet study.

According to the University of Vermont policy, service animals accompanying an individual with a disability are allowed in public areas of campus including UVM Libraries. Service animals in training must be registered with the appropriate office before being brought on campus. Emotional support animals are only allowed in university residential housing, unless approved as a reasonable accommodation. See the University policy (PDF) for more information.

Howe Library

If you are unable to use the stairs, and the elevators are not in use due to an emergency, designated areas of rescue assistance are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors adjacent to the front elevator. There is an emergency phone at these locations if you are unable to call 911 from your own phone. The emergency phone is geo-located and connects directly to police services.

Dana Library

There are two exits from the library to be used in the event of an emergency. Since Dana Library is on ground level, evacuating patrons do not have to worry about elevator access.

  • Main Door: People using this exit should go straight to the outside.
  • Emergency exit door: Located in the south end of the library near the library bathrooms. People exiting from this door should proceed to the exit directly in front of them.
