How to access and use the Collaboration Cloud add-on for NVivo qualitative analysis software

Home

About NVivo Collaboration Cloud

Collaboration Cloud is an add on component of NVivo qualitative analysis software that allows users to share access to a single research project in NVivo, even using different platforms such as Mac and Windows. With NVivo Collaboration Cloud, multiple users can connect to the same project to update, code, and analyze research in real-time.

Please note that NVivo Collaboration Cloud is NOT approved for the storage of Non-public Protected Data (NPPD). See UVM's Privacy policy for more information.

Accessing Collaboration Cloud

In order to use Collaboration Cloud, each project member must have already downloaded and installed the NVivo software. UVM has a campus license for NVivo version 14, and it can be downloaded from https://software.uvm.edu. [Please note you will need to log in with your UVM NetID in order to access this page.]  You will need a license key in order to activate the NVivo software, which can be found on the UVM Software Portal.

Once you have installed the NVivo software, you can request Collaboration Cloud access using this form: https://forms.office.com/r/gwJP4WDSJW

Library staff will monitor this form and activate Collaboration Cloud access using the email address(es) provided. Once your request has been processed, you will receive an email within 24-48 business hours from Team NVivo (noreply@nvivo.com) verifying that your access has been activated. This is the only email you will receive - please check your spam or junk folder if you do not receive a response within 48 hours of filling out the form.

The activation email from Team NVivo will prompt you to set up a MyNVivo account if you have not already created one. Please ensure the password created for your MyNVivo account is different from your UVM NetID password.

All users who want to connect to a project will need to have requested Collaboration Cloud access. Please note that we only have a limited number of seats for this license, so you may be contacted periodically to ensure you are still utilizing your Collaboration Cloud license. If you no longer need to access to Collaboration Cloud, please notify laura.sobel@uvm.edu so that your seat can be re-assigned to another researcher.

If you would like to set up Collaboration Cloud access for a large number of users (5+), please email laura.sobel@uvm.edu with a list of names, email addresses, and information about your course and/or project, including anticipated start and end dates.

Sharing projects with others

Due to UVM's enterprise license, Project Owners at UVM do not need to purchase and share Collaboration Cloud licenses, but instead will request access to Collaboration Cloud licenses through the form here: https://forms.office.com/r/gwJP4WDSJW

If you are filling out this form on behalf of others, please be sure to provide the same email address that the researcher is currently using to access NVivo.

Once Collaboration Cloud access has been granted to all members of a project, Project Owners will then need to go into the NVivo software and share access to their project with their Collaborators.  See instructions for how to do this here: Collaboration Cloud with NVivo 14

Here's a basic workflow, edited to reflect UVM's enterprise license:

It is highly recommended that you read through the entire Collaboration Cloud with NVivo 14 page before sharing your project with others.
