For UVMMC users and anyone not using sslvpn2/full or the LCOM Remote Access Gateway:
If you are shown a login page from a library resource, are prompted for payment, or get some other error saying that you don't have access, the most important thing is to look at the URL of the page.
If you are successfully logged in through the library's proxy server, the first part of the URL will end in .ezproxy.uvm.edu:
If you don't see the .ezproxy.uvm.edu, the site will not recognize you as one of our affiliates, and you will be prompted to log in or pay, or otherwise be denied access:
Tips:
- Make sure you accessed the resource through the Dana Library website. You will probably not be able to use bookmarks, Google search results, or other non-UVM links to resources because they won't include our proxy.
- If you can't find the resource on our website, you can try adding the proxy yourself. Go back and take the URL from the link you clicked on, and add https://login.ezproxy.uvm.edu/login?url= to the front. So, if you had a link to https://www.uptodate.com, you would change it to https://login.ezproxy.uvm.edu/login?url=https://www.uptodate.com. This will force the link to use the proxy. If you are on a hospital computer or using the UVMMC Gateway, you should be automatically logged in. Otherwise, you will be prompted to log in with a UVM NetID.
- If you're still having trouble, let us know. We'll do our best to get things straightened out.
