Start at the library homepage

When off campus, start at the library homepage or CATQuest. All our resources are automatically proxied using EZproxy, so you will be prompted to log in with your UVM NetID and password when you first encounter a subscription-only resource, unless you previously authenticated.

How do I sign in from off campus?

Due to licensing restrictions, not everyone has the same level of access to our resources when off campus or uses the same authentication methods, so check your affiliation on the Who Can Use the Library page.

UVM Affiliates

All UVM students, faculty, staff, and faculty emeriti can access library resources off campus either through using proxied links on our website (EZproxy) or connecting to the VPN. Both of these methods simulate being on the UVM network and require logging in with your UVM NetID and password.

Larner College of Medicine

If you are connected to the Larner College of Medicine, you can access the library resources off campus with your UVM NetID either through using proxied links on our website (EZproxy) or connecting to the VPN. Both of these methods simulate being on the UVM network.

You can also access resources by logging into the LCOM Remote Access Gateway with your MED account.

UVM Medical Center Employees

For UVMMC employees who do not have a NetID or connection to UVM through the colleges, you can access library resources from a hospital computer that is connected to the secure network by using the proxied links on our website. Our authentication software EZproxy recognizes anyone on a hospital IP address as an authorized user.

You can also access library resources by logging into the UVM Medical Center Gateway and opening up a web browser within the gateway for the libraries' website.

Connect Off Campus

To access library resources directly when off-campus, you can create a secure connection to the UVM network using VPN which dynamically assigns a UVM network IP address to your computer.
